Pride
in service to the nation took on new meaning and an economic foundation
was being strengthened if only to survive the great depression of
the late 20's.
We as a nation
have endured the horrors of war, internal discord, racial bias,
violence in our streets, devastation of neighborhoods, clashing
of cultures and rebellion of youth, onslaughts of nuclear proliferation
and fear of rampant disease. We have lived through political scandals
and religious scandals, a loosening of values, a changing of order,
a decline in the morals of our nation and the high cost of living
a good life. But through it all a certain internal force, a "Spirit
of Life," has sustained Americans and seen them through difficult
times. The United States of America has the stamina and spirit to
live, to defend and support and help the rest of the world overcome
their own misfortunes.
We have stood
by our allies, fought alongside our friends, stood fast to our values
and never looked back. Our men and women of the service have given
their lives so that the goals of this nation and its people could
be achieved and the system we created could endure. There was a
pride in work and a pride in organization. We developed a foundation
of strength that would create a nation uncompromising in its resolve
to do good and serve its fellow man. And no matter who we were and
how difficult things got, in time and
through
faith and resolve, even the most devastating events were handled
with passion and resolve.
Today, we face
a world of uncertainty that always seems to be on the brink of conflict
and internal problems that test our mettle and common sense. Nonetheless,
as it was in 1914 and is today, these events continue to shape who
we are and what we are as both a nation and as individuals. The
"Spirit of Life," we believe, will always sustain our commitment
so long as we agree that working together to help each other is
vital and one of our most important assets. We believe that this
spirit is unique to each individual and shaped by our belief in
the values of life and respect for one another. It has no boundaries
or barriers and does not dictate or demand. The "Spirit of Life"
is fulfilling and fervent. So long as you live your life to its
fullest, with pride and honor, the spirit will burn for generations
to come as it has for those before us.
As a patron
of our restaurants, we want you to know that our company is a teaching
enterprise and full of this spirit. We instill in our employees,
a pride in good food, good value and good service. We celebrate
their successes and encourage them to enhance their lives. We teach
them how to achieve kindness without compromising self worth, and
teach them how to make their lives better by keeping their promises
and honoring their commitments. As we do this, we hope that your
visit to our restaurants meets your expectations and that you will
always get more than just great food, great value and great service;
you will get great people as well. That's our promise to you and,
we keep our promises.
